The Cycle of Revenge and Racism

by Cheryl Davis

During my silence, my muse said--"look beyond the blue,” I took this to mean look beyond everything that I know under the blue sky--go beyond form. I thought about you all today while listening to a beautiful song about leaving earth, and "flying into the heart of the sky.”

Now moving from space, to air, and landing on the big blue marble where we're all exiled, I can't see much difference between the Jewish people and the rest of humanity. Who amongst us isn't identified with an illusionary body? We can intellectualize that we're soul conscious, but it doesn't take much before we start vibrating emotionally over this or that form.

The one part of the form I would like to see removed from our emotional body is "revenge.” What a cyclic craziness: as victim we think we're lord of Karma but we're hatefully lousy at it and we the victim, become the victimizer.

"The force of mass negativity, as expressed today by the dominated people in the strongholds of aggression and by the neutrally minded people everywhere. They are all colored by racial fear, by the instinct to self-preservation, and by short-sighted selfish interest.”

I do realize it's more difficult if we're attached to a race that is as ancient as the Jewish one. I am learning--from observing my first generation Japanese-American son-in-law-- what it's all about to be in a body/culture that gives a powerful connection to an ancient race. Although he's 100 % American male, if anyone asks him if he is Japanese-American, he will say no I am Japanese. And yet for me his desire to be seen as Japanese is really insignificant

I do not see much difference between my son's reality and the Jewish people's. D.K. refers to the Jewish race as Asian people. Like the Jewish the far eastern Asian races have built intelligence into their DNA. I asked my therapist daughter, with Japanese husband, why she thinks the Asians seem to be more intelligent than the Caucasians. She said the Asians are driven by guilt. Guilt and fear so plague humanity, rooted as it is in our failure to live up to our higher selves and fear of retribution for dishonoring the ideal. Honoring spiritual Teacher by good deeds becomes honoring (fearing) family and fear of not living up to family-group ideals.

Like Eva, I don't know much about Jewish history either. Although, I learned something of the karma of it when I was twenty. I had a Jewish lover, who was imprisoned by the Nazis when he was 8 years old. His father ran away to save himself just before he and his mother were imprisoned. No matter who the victims are, so he told me, everyone is inclined to do unbelievable things to stay alive. He said the allied dislocation camp was nearly as horrible, and then being relocated to what is called “hell's kitchen” New York was unbearable. So, when it came time for his Jewish rites at 13 he ran away because he didn't want any part of the history of so much cruelty. Out of chaos he triumphed; last I heard he was on his way to changing his negatives into positives and serving humanity, getting advanced teaching degrees in sociology.

I grew up in neighborhood with many upper middle class Jewish children (doctors, lawyers, business owners). We were bused together to inner city schools (3000 kids there), with every race and religion represented (even metaphysics). This was before U.S. civil rights laws, and rules that try to force people to get along. Amongst us, respect for our difference just happened naturally. Years later, after the civil rights laws were enacted, I was teacher to children of the children that I grew up with. In our classroom we openly celebrated each other's cultures, although it was sad that we had to be forced to recognize what in my youth we did naturally--love each beyond physical differences.

It seems that emphasizing our differences in an "affirmative action" sort of way is itself an underscoring of more separatism? This was my thought after coming across this:

Just google the word “Jew.” What comes up doesn't come up for other derogatory words like Mexican (spik), Jap, Nigger. Here is the apology:”
