Personal Introduction and Commentary

by Helene Kerem

I am born a Jew, and live in Israel since 1961. Growing up as a secular Jew, and practicing jewish traditions while living in Egypt and in Argentina, I now am immersed in the Jewish Israeli ambience which is Jewish nationalistic .

About a decade ago I came across the Tibetan's texts, and encountering the "Jewish problem" was not easy, still it gradually made me understand on a wider scale some of the issues of this people. Separatism on the side of the Jews themselves and on the side of their surroundings is a fact.

The "inner' separativeness that I live and experience here in Israel is one of the strong reasons of my having been " judgemental" about Judaism , manifested and expressed in my surrounding .

In the context of a beautiful course called "Bridge of Compassion"( an experience to bridge between Judaism and Universal Sprituality) given by Uta and her israeli co-worker Efrat Tenenbaum,I came to be in peace with my jewishness, knowing inside that it is part of my make up in this incarnation.

This peace allows me to bring Love in my dealing with the reality in which I live, and I think that this is the energy needed in relating to differences between people, between concepts. This could very well be the bridge between the highly intuitive aspect and the intelligent active aspect concerning an issue.
