Horoscope for Saturn’s Ingress into Virgo

Phillip Lindsay

Jewish Race: Virgo Soul, Capricorn Personality

Saturn, the ruler of the Jewish Race personality, has just entered Virgo, the soul ruler of the Jewish Race. The ingress chart below has some very difficult and unique challenges - which of course apply to the whole world in many areas of activity, not just this Jewish theme. We must bear in mind also the many millions of people who express both the negative and positive stereotypes of Jewishness but who are not Jewish per se; hence the race is the microcosm of humanity and their collective sacrifice/function constitutes the solar plexus of the planet.

The horoscope has been set for New York, speculated by this author as the solar plexus of the Fifth Rootrace; esoterically NY is a major centre for the West, yet also coincidentally contains about a third of the world’s Jewish population.

T-Square #1: Mars in Gemini

This pattern is extremely unstable and can manifest as bitter and acrimonious debate. The Sun in Virgo is square to Mars which in turn squares Uranus. Mars in Gemini can be quite argumentative or aggressive in dialogue (literally ‘spoiling for a fight’), bringing out the ‘warring brothers’ theme strongly.

Mars is also near to its return in the USA horoscope, within orb of about 5 degrees, no doubt affecting profoundly the USA as a nation.

Gemini is not known for its discrimination, whilst Virgo is a ‘master of discrimination’, whose shadow is criticism; it can be the tortuous and cunning lower mind that finds endless clever ways to justify itself.

Again, USA comes to mind, with its Mars in Gemini (7th house) square to Neptune in Virgo (9th house), the major identifiable pattern that relates to that nation’s penchant for litigation.

As part of this T-square equation, Uranus is the force that is trying to break the impasse and revolutionise thinking; it is the soul ruler of the Libran ascendant, esoterically the ‘purpose’ of this chart – to achieve peace, harmony and right relations; a tall order indeed, given the entrenched nature of this theme.

Although the Virgo Sun is part of the wide T-square, it has its own very close square aspect to Jupiter in Sagittarius. The position of Jupiter here in its own sign is very powerful with regard to the higher spiritual ethics and principles to which Humanity aspires. Sagittarius is most intuitive but like Gemini, is not noted for its discrimination; hence the square to the Virgo Sun carries a strong tension that will involve minute examination and criticism of the details of spiritual belief systems.

Mercury as Dispositor of Mars in Gemini and Sun in Virgo

Similarly, Mercury in its own sign of Virgo strengthens the power of discrimination and acute arguments, not unlike tedious legal jargon. Yet Mercury the Trickster is the adept of clever and cunning shadow-play, reflected by its close square to Pluto in Sagittarius, the sign of religion and philosophy.

The tension of this square has the possibility of enabling a deep penetration into the planetary mental body but can be subject to much illusion and misinterpretation in trying to balance the pairs of opposites; its point of least resistance is destructively critical and dismissive.

Transiting Pluto in Sagittarius has been excavating deeply in recent years, dragging to the surface the stumps and rocks from the barren furrows of the fields of old religions, particularly with regard to Islam and Christianity; yet Judaism as the father of the former, contains the deepest deposits, now rendered it could be argued, infertile by Time, unable to produce future harvests.

T-Square #2: Moon in Taurus

The Moon’s position in Taurus represents the most unredeemed part of the chart and the extreme inertia of this fixed sign; it carries an echo of the Age of Taurus and the children of Israel who fell down and worshipped the golden calf; it tells the story of a major glamour of the Jewish Race around money and materialism – for which it has been criticised and persecuted down the ages. Hence this issue may be a divisive topic. There may be a further rise of anti-Jewish feeling and of course the sense of persecution that Jewish people feel.

The Moon is at the point of a T-square to retrograde Venus in Leo (dispositor of the Taurus Moon) and Neptune in Aquarius. Idealism, the maya of identity (the ahamkara) and racial pride will be major factors here.

Neptune has the capacity to help bring a visionary quality to more meaningful relationships but will probably have its strongest expression through deceptive propaganda that defensive arguments employ.

Nevertheless, Venus is connected to the soul purpose of this chart through its rulership of the Libran ascendant, sign of diplomacy, tact and harmonious relationships. Venus’s retrograde position in Leo means plowing over a lot of old ground, in terms of the Jewish Race’s relationship with the rest of the world.

Venus trines Pluto, promising profoundly life-altering and transformative relationships; nevertheless, even with the harmonious trine aspect, power struggles are indicated. Bear in mind that Pluto is ruler of the first ray of will or power and that is the soul ray of the Jewish Race.

Saturn Ingress Chart Synastry with Israel’s Chart

Venus in the Saturn Ingress chart (SI) sits right on Saturn in Israel’s chart - Saturn is of course the ruler of the Jewish personality.

SI Moon falls on the Taurus Sun of Israel. SI Saturn falls on Israel’s Mars in late Leo, triggering the major pattern of Sun square Mars: aggressive relations with its Arab neighbours. Another third of the population of the Jewish race resides in Israel.

Libra Rising Soul Purpose: Building Right Relations Through Dialogue and Tolerance

The soul ruler of the Libran ascendant, Uranus, is the main mover and shaker, bringing its revolutionary qualities to overturn the existing status quo.

Uranus rules occultism of course and students of the wisdom have been given a mine of information about the karma of the Jewish Race, microcosm of Humanity. Hence occult students have much to contribute in building Universal understanding; they have a responsibility in contributing to the transformation of ideas that will regenerate the mental body of the planet, a major aspect of the World Dweller.

Uranus in Pisces is about combining this occult wisdom and knowledge with the unconditional loving heart of Pisces – a heart that can absorb much of the (exoteric) Virgoan vituperation, criticism and separativeness directed against it. This is the key pair of opposites that Libra the Balance has the opportunity to resolve whilst Saturn transits Virgo until Oct 29, 2009 when Saturn enters Libra, its own sign where it is exalted and rules from the hierarchical level.

Bear in mind also that Pisces and Uranus are the two levels whereby Sirian forces find their way to World Servers via the love-line of force. (EA428)

The sextile of Uranus to the Moon in Taurus will assist in taking the pressure of this T-square and access the veiled energies of the Moon. In other words, if the basic point of least resistance in the Taurus Moon can be transcended, perhaps the energies of Vulcan, its soul ruler, can be invoked so that the Moon is revoked. Vulcan has great potency forging new initiatives, particularly in races and nations. Again, Vulcan is the sacred ruler of the first ray Jewish Soul and seeks to build anew that which Pluto destroys.

Another dimension to Uranus as soul ruler of Libra is the development of impersonality, a true Aquarian way of working that does not get caught up personally. If acted upon consciously, it can go a long way to breaking the cycle of tit for tat, an eye for an eye, justification versus justification, scripture quoting versus scripture quoting etc.

This work will succeed if there is a far broader attempt by disciples to work subjectively upon the mental plane and in directed meditation. It is the only way to chip away at this ancient edifice until it topples once and forever.

Israel's Solar Return for 2008

Phillip Lindsay

The solar return of Israel is worth looking at not just in terms of what influences are for 2008-2009, but also as the completion of two Saturn cycles (Saturn return in 2006) as well as three Saturn/Jupiter conjunctions of 20 years each.

Set for Jerusalem, the chart has Virgo rising with Saturn right on the ascendant and the Moon also in Virgo. Virgo of course is the soul of the Jewish people. So there is much here to do with the future potential to unfold (Virgo rising), Saturn the Lord of Karma and ruler of the Jewish Capricorn personality, and the Moon - the long history and past of Israel and the Jewish people. With Saturn on the Virgo ascendant, it allows for introspective and sombre reflection.

One of the most pertinent aspects is the square of the Israel Sun to Neptune, node and Chiron in Aquarius - the realisation of the Aquarian vision and the healing that must take place through group cooperation. All this must be integrated into the personality expression of Israel's Taurus Sun, this year and for the next 60 years! That Aquarian vision is the rising sign of the Israel chart for 1948 (midnight version) and the way the water bearer pours forth to those who thirst - with generosity. Jupiter is the planet of generosity and Love-Wisdom; its current transit through Capricorn is also a powerful influence upon the Capricorn personality - hopefully awakening and transforming it.

In the progressed chart, the Moon is currently in Libra, but in 3.5 months it will enter Scorpio and the ninth house for 2.5 years. I suspect that this will reflect some intense legal negotiations that may culminate when progressed Moon reaches Chiron in Scorpio in about 2 years. Chiron opposes the Israel Sun, t-squaring Mars in Leo in the seventh house, reflecting Israel's major personality integration issues - power, will, the use of force etc - all themes of the first ray Jewish soul.

For most of this year transiting Chiron follows upon Neptune's heels in squaring Israel's Sun, prompting the ongoing painful question of identity and integration, as well as triggering the natal T square just mentioned.
