Disputes over land, borders and territories is particularly the province of the sign of acquisitive Taurus. Taurus is prominent in the charts of some of the main protagonists:

Israel is a Taurus sun and both Ariel Sharon and Yassah Arafat have Taurus moons very close to the degree of the Israel sun. Sharon’s progressed Sun is closing to an exact conjunction with Arafat’s moon over the next two years. The Palestine Autonomy chart of 1994 is a Taurus sun and the progressed Sun is within a degree of Arafat’s moon.

The Taurean influence also seems to hearken back to the Age of Taurus from approximately 4,000 to 2,000 BC:

"… the sin of the children of Israel in the wilderness was their reverting to a dispensation and religious ritual which had passed and gone (the religion of the people in the time of Taurus, the Bull, symbolised by their falling down and worshipping the golden calf)” (RI534)

It is said that the Jew is a ‘symbol of mass consciousness’, and with the disputes over territories, certainly demonstrates Taurus at the mutable cross stage of expression.

The polar opposite expression in Scorpio is generically at a mutable cross level, with constant revenge by both sides, an ‘eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’ attitude.

When will the darkness of the Scorpio experience give way to the illumination of Taurus? When will the Love-Wisdom impress of the fixed cross bring about a ‘reversal of the wheel’ for these nations, moving them from the mutable to the fixed cross? In other words, onto the Path proper?

Libra is currently prominent in the planetary horoscope and is helping bring about that reversal. Saturn, the Law and Lord of Karma, is exalted in Libra.

The Jewish Race is collectively a symbol of mass consciousness, embodies the planetary solar plexus (EOH85), and in microcosm is the seat of the personality expression for Humanity, including all its unredeemed features, i.e. the shadow or Dweller on the Threshold. Saturn is also said to embody the planetary ‘dweller on the threshold’:

“From certain angles, Saturn can be regarded as the planetary Dweller on the Threshold, for humanity as a whole has to face that Dweller as well as the Angel of the Presence, and in so doing discover that both the Dweller and the Angel are that complex duality which is the human family.” (EA164)

Saturn also rules the Jewish Race via its Capricorn personality.

Humanity has been undergoing the First Initiation en masse, ever since World Wars I & 2, where the Dweller and Angel faced off against one another in a recapitulation of the ancient Atlantean conflict. It is here too where the Jewish Race was sacrificed as a ‘karmic clearing house’. (See EA167)

“Clearing house” is a term applied to the solar plexus (which the Jewish Race embodies at a planetary level) because of a re-orientation of the life force that takes place within the personality, as a result of ‘reversal of the wheel’. The aspirant moves into an increasing heart awareness as the First Initiation is approached. This occurred to many caught up in the World Wars as the cry of human suffering brought forth a response of love and compassion.

As Humanity is being almost forced through the door of the First Initiation (kicking and screaming), the old Piscean values still hold sway.

Arafat, (Virgo sun) is besieged and experiencing Virgo’s Piscean polarity: Captivity and bondage - which he is willing to allow to lead to his own sacrifice and death. Arafat was reported as uttering repeatedly “martyr, martyr, martyr”. This is an easy thing for which he can identify, as the Moon (and Saturn) of the Palestine Autonomy chart is in Pisces opposite his Sun. Whether Arafat actually embraces the martyr role or plays up to it politically is unclear. His people certainly do and the wave of almost daily suicide bombings are seen as the only solution for a people desperate beyond measure.

The Palestinians of course have legitimate rights to their land. Contemporarily: The Arabs never wanted a Jewish state and vehemently opposed it from the start. They all voted against partition and wanted Palestine to achieve independence and autonomy as an Arab state. When the State of Israel was declared on May 14 1948, several Arab states attacked Israel, but were beaten in a few months. Israel ended up with 50% more land than it had been allocated by the UN, and the 800,000 Arabs who were driven out by the Israelis became known as Palestinians. And historically,

“[The Jews] originally took the land of Palestine away from its original owners nearly three thousand years ago, at the point of the sword and through an unprovoked aggression… They are claiming a land to which they have no possible right and which the Jews have ignored for two thousand years… through the endorsement of partition, they [the U.N.] perpetuate the ancient technique of taking what is wanted (with force of arms, if necessary) from the rightful owners.” (RI634-6)

The world is paying the price for the founding of an Israeli state 54 years ago. The current crisis has the potential to drag the world into cataclysm. Russia, France, Britain and many others all bear some responsibility in the matter:

“The test, as far as the nations are concerned, lies in their willingness to give refuge to the Jews, and such a refuge would have been offered if the partitioning of Palestine had been refused.  The unwillingness of the nations to admit the Jews (though many have willingly offered), and particularly the refusal of the United States to admit them, is separative, wrong and based upon political expediency.” (RI634-6) 

 The United States has probably the most to answer for and hence her responsibility now in rectifying the situation:

“It [1948 UN vote] was a test for the United States, for it is the American Jews who have created the situation, with relatively little help or endorsement from the Jews of other nations.  The United States, urged by expediency, by the financial weight of the Zionists, and by the strategic position of Palestine, have thrown the weight of their influence into the conflict on the side of aggression and of territorial theft.” (RI634-6)

All these processes have been accelerated since September 11^th 2001, where New York (speculatively the solar plexus of the five major planetary centres), ‘hosted’ a karmic clearing of sorts. There was a huge response of compassion and a noticable lack of reactivity and revenge which took place. This event had its reflex action in Afghanistan, but more so in the Middle East where final conflicts and resolutions will play out; the area is the major source of terrorist activity directed toward America and many terrorists’ gripes were directed toward Israel and USA.

New York is one of the major power bases for Zionism:

“These Forces of Evil work through a triangle of evil, one point of which is to be found in the Zionist Movement in the United States, another in central Europe, and the third in Palestine.  Palestine is no longer a Holy Land and should not be so regarded…The area of difficulty—as is well known—is the Near East and Palestine.  The Jews, by their illegal and terroristic activities, have laid a foundation of great difficulty for those who are seeking to promote world peace.  As a Jewish member of my Ashram pointed out (and I commend him on his soul vision), the Jews have partially again opened the door to the Forces of Evil, which worked originally through Hitler and his evil gang.  The "sealing" of that door had not been successfully accomplished, and it is the part of wisdom to discover this in time.” (RI430)

The other Zionist power base referred to may be in Vienna or somewhere in Austria, as this was their stronghold in the late 1800’s. This is most ironic when we consider this area as from where both Hitler and Bismark emerged.

Let us return to the current situation and the main protagonists, and be reminded of the extraordinary synastry:

The United States has a major opportunity now (April 2002) to do something about this situation, which befits both its Aquarian soul, and Aquarian Moon in the 1776 Independence horoscope. The precise line-up of progressed Sun in Aquarius conjunct USA Moon, with transiting Uranus also conjunct, is most potent, and has the potential of lasting humanitarian assistance. Some other interesting line-ups:

The United States has ceased its procrastination (Cancer Sun square Libra Saturn), and has sent in Secretary Colin Powell (Aries Sun), and much rests upon him.

Powell’s visit was an initiative that took place on the new moon of Aries (He described his agenda as ‘taking aggressive political action’), and may have its outcome by the full moon of Taurus (Wesak).

With all the Leo placements above, pride is one theme that comes to mind, particularly in the Moon position, representing all that is unredeemed within the personality: Blind pride, arrogance, tyranny, despotism – all traits of the king who is not master of himself, as opposed to the ruler who has achieved true self-Sovereignty, and serves his subjects with humility and a magnanimous heart.

With transiting Neptune opposite these Leo points at the moment, there is a possibility of accessing its soul rulership of Leo – expressed as selfless love, compassion, vision and generosity. Leo rules the first initiation which these nations have the possibility of taking, as they go through their major testings in ‘reversing the wheel’. Yet exoterically it could quite easily manifest as deception and subterfuge by some or all parties, resulting in extreme confusion or endless wool-gathering.

Still on the Taurus theme, the Wesak full moon falls on April 27 and a chart for this time, set in Jerusalem, shows early Taurus rising with Sun on the ascendant. Sun and Moon create a T-square to aforesaid Neptune – most elevated and in the tenth house. There will be high hopes, vision and idealism, yet inherent dangers as earlier discussed. Several planets in Gemini bode well for dialogue and discussion, and trine Neptune, particularly Saturn, helping to manifest the vision of a Palestinian state in form.

Wesak Mercury is exactly on Sharon’s Moon and square to Wesak Uranus, providing a major challenge around creative and innovative dialogue. With the inertia and stubborness that Taurus sometimes exhibits, talks could be tedious and slow, with neither side backing down or seeking compromise.

As Wesak Uranus is dangerously opposite Israel’s Mars, it seems that Powell’s dialogues with Sharon may be particularly delicate. Sharon was predictably obstinate with Powell, according to CNN.com. Wesak Mercury and Sharon’s Moon are at the point of a T-square to Wesak Uranus and Israel’s Mars. Add to that transiting Uranus’s line-up with USA Moon and progressed Sun, something will have to give.

Taurus is the ‘mother of illumination’ and wisdom, the highest possible expression that can emerge from the current situation. The soul ruler of Taurus, Vulcan, if invoked, has the potential to forge a lasting peace through the creation of a new Palestinian state. A sobering reminder of the destructive force of Taurus and how it could dash any dialogue hopes, is Mars in the first atom bomb explosion chart (New Mexico): 25 Taurus 15.

As an addenda to the above, Palestinian leadership has had its infrastructure torn out and severely disabled, leaving the situation potentially even more dangerous. What can the Palestinians do now? Anything could happen: Sympathetic Arab states could back Palestine in a war, anti-semitism is running high in Europe, and the USA still has much to play out.

The energy of Ray One is increasing, more in its destructive and forceful expression, as the world witnesses the ongoing rise of facism in Europe, most recently France.

The Shamballa force will probably pour through the Taurus full moon of 2002 very strongly, creating great potential for large scale change.
