Hechal as a learning centre for right human relations in
Jerusalem, works to improve human relations on the personal and societal
level, based on the principle of “Unity in Diversity”. Hechal
works on an individual, inner level and a public, outer level. On the
inner level it runs a School offering various courses and activities
aimed at deepening the understanding of the human nature in its wholeness
(psychological and spiritual) and the experiential study of group work
and group relationships. A special focus of the School lies on introducing
the practice of meditation and universal values into public education
in Israel. Another public aspect of Hechal’s work focuses on facilitating
the transition into greater integration among the various religious
and spiritual communities in Jerusalem and in the world, through a variety
of lectures, courses and events.

Combatants
for Peace
We are a group of Israeli and Palestinian individuals who were
actively involved in the cycle of violence in our area. The Israelis
served as combat soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces and the Palestinians
were involved in acts of violence in the name of Palestinian liberation.
We all used weapons against one another, and looked at each other only
through weapon sights; however today we cooperate and commit ourselves
to the following: 1. We
no longer believe that the conflict can be resolved through violence.
2. We believe that the blood bath will not end unless we act together
to terminate the occupation and stop all forms of violence. 3. We call
for the establishment of a Palestinian State, alongside the State of
Israel. The two states can exist in peace and security one by the other.
4. We will use only non violent means to achieve our goals and call
for both societies to end violence.
